Luton Airport chauffeur service

Met inside the Luton terminal, walked to a car parked a few minutes away, and driven down the M1 on a pickup time that follows the flight rather than the timetable.

01 — THE AIRPORT

Luton is the airport for a short trip to a European city. It has one terminal, on high ground at the south-east edge of the town, and its timetable is made up very largely of easyJet and Wizz Air, both of which base aircraft here. On a quiet morning a passenger with a cabin bag can be off the aircraft and out of the building in very little time; when several flights land together, the passport hall sets the pace for everybody.

Tracking matters here for a reason that runs the other way from the long-haul airports. A short flight with a tailwind can arrive well ahead of the timetable, so tracking at Luton is as much about early landings as late ones. The flight is followed from the moment it is airborne, and when the expected arrival moves by a quarter of an hour or more in either direction, the controller moves the pickup by the same amount. The gap you chose between landing and meeting stays the gap you get, and a flight that comes in twenty minutes early is met twenty minutes early rather than leaving you at the barrier looking for a board that has not arrived.

The airport is a couple of miles from junction 10 of the M1, and from there it is motorway all the way to the North Circular at Staples Corner. The M1 is what makes Luton a West End airport: the motorway hands over to the North Circular and then the Finchley Road, which runs down into the West End, and Mayfair is the nearest of the destinations priced below. The City is a little further on. Late in the evening it is a clear run; in the weekday rush the M1 slows well before London.

The rail link is good now The DART, a driverless shuttle that opened in 2023, takes about four minutes from the terminal to Luton Airport Parkway, where Thameslink and East Midlands Railway trains run into St Pancras. For a single traveller heading to King's Cross with a cabin bag, that is a sensible way to go. The car is for what the train does badly: two or three people and their cases, a destination south of the river or in the West End, a late arrival, or not wanting to carry anything at the end of a working trip.

02 — WHERE WE MEET YOU

Meeting you at Luton

Luton has a single terminal and passengers come out into one arrivals area, so finding each other is simple. What takes managing is the car, because the zone outside the building allows ten minutes and a flight does not keep to ten minutes.

Arrivals
At the front of the waiting crowd where passengers come through from baggage reclaim, with your name on a board. He is in position before the first bags from your flight reach the belt, so somebody travelling with hand luggage only is not the one kept waiting.
Terminal car park
The car is parked in one of the terminal car parks a short walk from the building while he waits, rather than circling or sitting in the drop-off zone against the clock. The airport's parking tariff for this is paid by us from the fare.
Drop-off zone, Terminal Car Park 2
For departures. The ground floor of the rebuilt multi-storey, covered, a few steps from the terminal doors. The car stops, the cases come out, and it is gone well inside the limit.

Each figure is the lowest the booking form quotes for that journey on an ordinary day, with the airport’s own parking charge already in it. A night, a bank holiday or the congestion charge adds what it adds, and is shown before you confirm; VAT at 20% is added on top. Price your own journey and the figure you are shown is the figure you pay.

04 — WORTH KNOWING

The drop-off zone moved indoors

Since the rebuilt Terminal Car Park 2 opened in September 2025, Luton's drop-off and pick-up zone has been on its ground floor, under cover, with a ten-minute limit. That is where the car sets you down for a departure. The airport's charge for it comes out of the fare, not your pocket.

Ten minutes is not a meeting

The same zone is no place to meet an arrival: nobody should be timed out of a car park while their bags are still going round the carousel. So for an arrival the car is parked properly and the chauffeur comes into the building to find you.

Canary Wharf is the long way round

There is no fast road across north-east London, so from Luton the quickest route to Docklands often goes out round the M25 rather than through town. It is why Canary Wharf sits further away than the City in the fares below.

What every booking includes

How it works

I

Price the route

Put the two addresses into the booking form. The fare comes back on the measured distance, not off a table, and it is the fare you pay.

II

Confirm the car

Choose the vehicle and the booking type, give us the flight number if there is one, and pay or put it on the account.

III

Meet your chauffeur

His name, photograph and registration reach you the evening before. His live position reaches you on the morning.

IV

The name board in arrivals

On an airport pick-up he is inside the terminal at the barrier, not in a car park. Delays are absorbed by us, not billed to you.

05 — QUESTIONS

Yes, as an ordinary point-to-point booking to or from the station, priced on the road distance like any other address. For somebody coming off a flight, though, the terminal is simpler: it saves a DART ride with your luggage to reach a car that could have been waiting at the airport.

No. The booking form knows Luton's charges for the drop-off zone and for parking on a pick-up, and puts the right one inside the fare it quotes. Nothing is added at the barrier, and nothing arrives afterwards unless there was waiting beyond the complimentary hour.

Not in a saloon with two or three people in it. Book the V-Class: its extra-long body leaves a full-height space behind the rear row where skis and bags stand upright, and the passengers keep their seats.

Yes. Business aircraft at Luton are handled by Signature and by Harrods Aviation, each from its own building rather than the passenger terminal. Tell us which one, with the aircraft registration, and the car is arranged there instead of at the terminal.
